FileBuddy is an independent web utility maintained by swarajsadili, providing browser-based tools for PDF, spreadsheet, image, text, and document workflows. Public tool pages do not require account registration, subscriptions, or credit card information.
This Privacy Policy explains how FileBuddy handles file processing, contact submissions, issue reports, browser storage, cookies, analytics, and third-party infrastructure services.
Local Client-Side Processing: For the vast majority of utilities on FileBuddy (including PDF merging, page reordering, compression, splitting, image editing, and text transformations), file processing executes 100% locally on your device within your web browser using HTML5 Canvas, WebAssembly, and client-side JavaScript engines. When using these tools, your source files and generated outputs are kept strictly in your local browser memory (RAM) and are never transmitted to any external server.
Ephemeral Server Processing: For complex office document conversions requiring native vector fidelity (specifically Word to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF, Excel to PDF, CSV to PDF, and PDF to PDF/A), files are sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our conversion server, an open-source Gotenberg/LibreOffice service hosted by Render. The file is written to temporary storage only for the duration of the conversion and is deleted as soon as the converted PDF is returned. File contents are not logged, retained, indexed, or shared. Each of these tools tells you before you upload.
General Network Traffic: Standard server communication across the site is strictly limited to static asset delivery, configuration retrieval, aggregate event logging, and messages you explicitly submit through our contact and issue-reporting forms.
When you submit a message through our Contact page, FileBuddy receives the information you provide (your name, email address, and message text), along with limited request metadata (timestamp and technical headers) necessary to process your inquiry and prevent automated abuse.
When you submit an issue report from a specific tool page, the report includes the selected problem category, optional message, optional contact email, page URL, and tool identifier. Your uploaded document contents are never attached to or transmitted with issue reports.
We use this information solely to respond to your inquiries, troubleshoot technical bugs, and improve tool reliability. We do not sell, rent, or share your contact details with third-party marketers.
FileBuddy itself does not set advertising cookies. It uses browser local storage only to remember settings such as your theme and language. Our own visit counter is cookie-free and does not identify you.
Third-Party Vendors & Ad Serving: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to FileBuddy or other websites across the Internet.
Google Advertising Cookies: Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our visitors based on their visits to FileBuddy and other sites on the Internet.
Personalized Advertising Opt-Out: You can opt out of personalized advertising at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at https://www.aboutads.info or https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/.
Consent (EEA, UK, and Switzerland): Visitors in these regions are asked for consent through Google’s consent message, a Google-certified consent management platform that follows the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework. You can accept, reject, or choose which purposes to allow.
US State Privacy Rights: Where US state privacy laws apply (for example in California), you can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising through Google’s message.
Changing your choice: Use the “Privacy & cookie settings” link in the footer of every page to review or change your consent at any time.
FileBuddy records aggregate, non-personally identifiable first-party events—such as total page views, tool activations, successful downloads, and error occurrences. These metrics help diagnose browser compatibility issues, monitor system stability, and understand which tools are most useful.
Analytics events record generalized action identifiers (such as "download" or "tool_complete") and never capture the text contents, document data, or metadata of your files.
FileBuddy is hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure, which processes standard HTTP network request metadata (including IP addresses, user-agent strings, and security signals) to deliver web pages, protect against DDoS attacks, and enforce security policies.
The contact form and admin sign-in use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a request comes from a person rather than an automated bot. Turnstile runs in your browser and does not use advertising cookies. See https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ for how Cloudflare handles this data.
Third-party ad networks and advertising partners (including Google AdSense, DoubleClick, and certified demand partners) may display advertising units across the site. These entities operate under their respective privacy policies and comply with applicable privacy standards. Ads.txt records are publicly published at https://filebuddy.site/ads.txt to maintain authorized digital seller transparency.
FileBuddy is designed as a direct convenience utility, not a cloud file storage repository. Public file conversions reside only in temporary browser memory while the tab is active.
Messages submitted via contact forms and diagnostic issue logs are retained only as long as necessary to resolve inquiries, debug errors, and maintain project security.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy legislation regarding personal information you have submitted to us (such as requesting access to or deletion of messages sent via our contact form).
